COMPANY HISTORY

Harris Pillow Supply was founded by William Harris in 1956 when he bought a franchise from Fluff 'n Puff Pillow Service of America, Inc. to clean pillows in the Chicagoland area. With his investment he received a step van, two pillow cleaning machines, a generator, and sewing machine. He was restricted from purchasing his supplies from any other company but Fluff 'n Puff. He traveled throughout the metro area cleaning pillows at hospitals, hotels, colleges, nursing homes etc.

In 1957 Fluff 'n Puff went bankrupt and Mr. Harris borrowed as much money as he could to buy their existing inventory of pillow cleaning machines, started sewing his own ticking, and sold these machines to laundries and drycleaners. Later, with the aid of an engineer friend, he redesigned the machine to its present state. Every time he sold a machine, it created a new ticking customer.

In 1979 John Harris came to work with his father with a background in marketing and sales management. The following year, the mobile business still operating in Chicago, was sold and Harris Pillow Supply moved to Beaufort, SC. We have grown to over 1700 customers in every state, Canada, Mexico, and a number of other foreign countries such as Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Germany, England, Turkey, Brazil, the Azores, Sweden, Barbados, and Australia. We are the only company to manufacture a pillow renovating machine, the Pillow-Vac.

Twenty-four years after joining his father, John succeeded him in becoming President and in 2004 Patrick Harris, the third generation of Harris men, started. He brought with him graphic design and marketing experience. Harris Pillow Supply continues to sew pillow ticking for use in renovating pillows, and package feathers for the same purpose.
In the last decade, pillow manufacturing has been added to our list of offerings. We manufacture only the finest quality feather and down pillows, 100% down, and polyester cluster fiber pillows for the hospitality industry and decorators, which we currently produce in volume without sacrificing any quality. Our emphasis is on providing the very best products, with prompt service, at fair prices. You know, treating people the way they wish to be treated.
